3 Refreshing Beverages to Hydrate this Summer

It’s so hot in Memphis right now, and although I actually enjoy water, sometimes I want to switch it up. These 3 beverages are delicious and the perfect way to cool off this summer and get some good nutrients in. Hydration is very important to overall well being. Be mindful of how much water you are taking in. Try carrying a reusable water bottle with you to help with increased intake. These refreshing beverages are made in mason jars so you can literally grab it out of the fridge and take it with you.

First up is Rosemary and Lemon infused water.

Rosemary is a very sturdy herb and even the most inexperienced gardener can grow it. I have a pot full right now. Rosemary contains antioxidants and can help with digestion, brain health and improve circulation.

Lemon contains vitamin C. Consuming foods high in Vitamin C may reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Next is this tasty Watermelon Blueberry Green Tea.

Watermelon has a very high water content (hence the name) so it’s perfect for flavoring things. I found Blueberry Green Tea at a store and I decided to put watermelon in it since I had it on hand. So good! If you can’t find blueberry green tea, regular green tea will work fine.

Green Tea contains catechins that can protect against cell damage. Catechins also help lower blood pressure and cholesterol. Adding the watermelon to this adds natural sweetness to this beverage. There are even nutrients in the seeds which are edible. Trust me, you won’t grow a watermelon inside of you by eating the seeds!

The final beverage is my favorite, a Peach and Basil Refresher.

Peaches are stone fruits and contain various nutrients and compounds including Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Potassium, and carotenoids. These things provide a host of benefits to health including cancer prevention, bone health and heart health.

Basil is my favorite herb. I could eat it on anything! Basil contains antioxidants that help boost the immune system which in turn aids in prevention of a wide variety of illnesses.
